I wanted to begin this blog with something positive about our town. Perhaps the Moonlight Gardens..or a feature on the Living Fountain that visited here last week. However, while reading the News Star today, my mood took a different, uglier turn when I read this:

Dr. Mr. Woolsey,
I’m not sure that I understand your plan to “keep abortion down” correctly. Exactly how do you propose to “teach women in America not to have sex before marriage?” Church, perhaps? Maybe a cult-like brainwashing program of some sort? Chastity belts for the ultimate in male control?
While I am sure that what you are intending is the “saving” of unborn babies, your methods are quite stupifiying. Since you did not mention anything about teaching males not having sex before marriage, I can only assume that you are supporting the right of the red-blooded American male to have sex with as many sheep/pigs (rest in peace P-Pie) as he likes, since that is the only option that you are offering.
If what you intended to say was that we could avoid abortions by having all members of society abstain from sex before marriage, I am sure that you realize the absurdity of your plan by now, as you must be at least a hundred years old.
You seem to be implying that a woman who is married would never want to have an abortion. You must be a real ladies man to have such a valuable insight into the female mind. You should probably write a book.
Good luck with your “teaching women” plan. I wish you the best in all your ignorant endeavors.

Oh fun! I just visited your “very good web site” you recommended — your own, mind you — and found out something very interesting. You’re divorced! Big surprise there. Either that or you had children out of wedlock. Either of those, mind you, are grounds for stoning to death in the Holy Bible. The thing about the Bible as you read it and Christianity of the sort you preach, Mr. Woolsey, is that it’s not really anything resembling what God intended or Jesus taught. Instead, it’s a politically motivated hate-mongering ideology rather than a faith. A good example of this is your prominent display of the American flag next to a big cross. That’s not only presumptuous of you, it’s a violation of Jesus’s own teachings.
Here’s how you’ve violated the teachings of Christ:
- Jesus said concern yourself not with princes and principalities. God deals with those things and it’s not your place to worry with them.
- Judge not, lest ye be judged. The seat of judgement is exclusively reserved for God and God alone. No where from In the beginning… to Amen does it say “Judgement is reserved for God — oh yeah, and Melvin “Dusty” Woolsey…forgot that part. Yeah. Melvin Dusty Woolsey can judge too.”
- Pride. You’ve bragged about how holy you are, pridefully boasting of your sinlessness of the carnal variety. Yet you’re either divorced or you’re a fornicator. That’s abject pridefulness, whether you recognize it or not.
Maybe it isn’t Dear Alice above who should worry about kneeling before God on judgement day?

Mr. Woolsey, I’m not your sweetie. I’m male and straight. If that’s what you’re into, though, I have a lot of friends who could help you out with that little … issue? That certainly explains how you’re not having sex with the dozens of women in your life.

Wow. For someone who says he is not gay (or LESBIAN?) and gives the illusion of being very intelligent, in his posts this Dr. Mr. Woolsey sure does sound like a few of my gay friends, and extremely like the ignorant ones!
It is humanity’s belief, and good Christian men like himself, that it’s somehow a woman’s “curse” that she is able to bring life into this world. Any woman who is a single mother is looked upon as a wanton, promiscuous tramp with no self-control. If only she’d have been married, everything in her world would be perfect because God doesn’t make good, married Christian people sin. According to the Bible, haven’t we all sinned? Yet, a man is innocent of not being responsible and controlling his own actions because it is never the man whom abortion, or sex education is directed towards. My high school set the terms as mandatory for all female students 16+ to attend the Sex Education classes, yet for the males…it was optional. The last time I checked, I couldn’t multiply and divide on my own!
Coming from a very conservative and strict family, I have morals and values. However, the selfish and sexist ways of MANkind is threatening the stability of this entire world! Starting with all the so-called Christian, conservative men who hate anything that isn’t rich, usually white, or Christian. Jesus said love all, not all who think or believe like you.
How many right-wing conservative Republicans have we had come out of the closet or have had marital affairs and have children by–you guessed it!–single women? Yet, they’re the ones preaching to everyone about moral & religious standards.

Oh my god, this is the most hilarious/ridiculous/wonderful post and comment session I have ever read. I somehow found this site tonight, and I am in love… I am proud to be a “liberal stupid head” in the Monroe area, and I’m continuously shocked and appalled with the conservative Christian agenda in this region… It is great to know there are a few others out there… Even if I do have to read about how the great Melvin “Dusty” Woolsey wouldn’t date you.
And for the record, I had an abortion while married. So there. F. You. Mister Let’s teach women not to have sex before marriage… It was the best decision of my life thus far.

Thank FSM I’m atheist, I can’t imagine having to torture my own mind with twisted logic to make the world make sense like that. I suppose that’s why the arguments are so vitriolic and bile-filled. And they don’t really go anywhere except to “I’m glad when I upset you”… which isn’t what I call supportive evidence.
Also, Melvin, you didn’t answer the questions put to you in the article. I am genuinely interested to hear the reply.

Melvin Woolsey needs to be taken out back and beaten with the fan belt from a ’59 Chevy. He cannot be reasoned with because he lacks the ability to actually cogitate…..either through an accident of birth or inbreeding or due to atrophy from lack of use for his entire life.
