Hey guys,

My name is Harrison Lilly. As of 2 weeks ago, I am no longer the bar manager/head bartender at CODA. I have defended this place to the T just because I loved it to death and worked my ass off to help it succeed. Needless to say, thanks to Steven Dollar, I was all but forced to quit because he is an underhanded ass.

-Anyways, All this to say that I know everything about that restaurant/bar: the good and bad. Here's what you've been looking for ladies and gentlemen. Steven Dollar has embezzled THOUSANDS from local bands VIA credit card covers. If you have ever wondered why your band didn't make 200$ and there were easily 40 people in the building, it's because when people pay cover with credit cards, there is no way but a system sales report to show you what was made in CC Covers. This has taken place for the last year at least. So there you go...

To enjoy a delightful show, the ONLY way to work with CODA is have one of your own guys at the door to tally the amount of people walking in. Goodluck to all the honest bars and bar owners out there, if there are any!

Hopefully Offends everyone and sums it up:

CODA = Rich Arrogant Pricks, cool building, don't know what good music is

ENOCH'S = Hippy Pot Heads, good hamburger, think they know anything and everything about good music

TSUNAMI = Tatted Up Wierd and Artsy, too f**kin smokey, only like 1 genre of music that is good 1 out of every 7 times I go.

HOOKIN BULL = Rednecks, have a mechanical bull (enough said), think the Molly Ringwalds is good music.

RENDEVOUZ = 18yr old hoochies, same bar for the 100th time, think a dj is real music

6th ST BAR = Frat boys and young punks, best bartender in town, think brown eyed girl on repeat is cool.

SCRUFFS = TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE

BEST TRAIN WRECKS OF 2010 = Evette Jeter on Alcohol; Steven Dollar on Facebook, The entire Static Night Club Staff on X.

I HOPE I DIDN'T FORGET TO STEROTYPE ANYONE! IT'S A JOKE PEOPLE!

On a serious note though BEST LIVE SHOWS IN MONROE 2010 = Fred LeBlanc at Enochs, Big Sams Funky Nation at Coda, Robert Earl King at Hookin Bull.

P.S Most expensive drinks in town are at Portico. $14 for a F**kin double vodka.

First of all, I would like to say a thank you to the article above in regards to The Downtown Wigs. We are a group of friends that have known each other for 20 years or more and we enjoy getting together and having a good time playing. We hope that others have a good time too. We each have full-time jobs - this is something that is "on the side". We played at Coda because our friend asked us to for his birthday. This was my first experience playing there downstairs (I did play upstairs once for a private party). I have been there as a customer a couple of times before all of this and everything was fine.
I feel as if I really needed to comment on a few things that have been written .....

First, the Yvette/Enoch's matter - Doyle and Yvette have been in business for YEARS - more than 25, I know because I have been going to their various establishments for at LEAST that long. I have also been playing music in this town for 23 years so I'm no stranger to managers/bars/etc. One of the few reasons why I keep going there is because they KNOW how to treat their musicians. Why do you think that they have been in business so long? I don't understand why this had to be turned into aiming personal attacks on someone?? I don't know what the hell the above poster meant by ask anyone that goes there because I have been going there a LONG time and have witnessed nothing but fair treatment and good relations. Enoch's goes above and BEYOND for their musicians. They always have and I'm pretty certain they always will. We are damn lucky to have Doyle and Yvette and Molly and John as a part of our community!

Secondly, in regards to the bar tab comment .... why the hell was THAT even brought up?? Once again prove the point of poor business ... you're gonna call people out for how much a tab was??? Well, let me help you get your story straight - the TAB that you so blatantly pointed out was for about $150-$175 dollars and it was for FAMILY members of the BAND! That one member of the band PAID for - no questions asked!! I personally drank NOTHING from Coda that night and my husband had about 2 beers. Please don't imply that we are a bunch of drunks that want to "drink up" our pay.

Lastly, the thing that bothers ME the MOST!! The reason that I will NEVER grace the doorway of Coda again. And, I'm not trying to speak for my husband - he is a very educated, nice and articulate man. I'm also not trying to speak for my other band members but the proverbial straw that broke the camels back FOR ME is when Mr. Dollar looked my husband in the eyes and told him - and I quote - "F*CK OFF! Get the F*CK outta here!!" .... Nice. Real nice.
For THAT reason, I will not go back. I don't like the way they run their business and choose not to return. I'm sure they will get along just fine without me going there and that's fine too.

I wasn't going to comment, but a couple of things here have gotten under my skin. First, I have known Doyle and Yvette for around 25 years. They are friends of mine, and they have personally kept the music scene in this town alive since they've been open. They pass the hat, and if people don't want to go there and pay a couple of bucks to see some music, then please don't. It will be more pleasant for the rest of us. Yvette is actually a sweetheart, unless of course you're a jerk.

Codaguy: I really wish you hadn't thought it necessary to bring up the drinks. As already explained, the tabs were taken care of separately. There were SEVEN of us that night, and not all of us drank. To suggest that we're a bunch of drunks is uncalled for. The issue involved the money taken at the door, and that was addressed the next day when Steven called me to apologize. Evidently, extra money was found in the drawer the next morning. He even delivered it to Lea's for us to split. (See Mark's post above)

I've got no beef with Coda; however, I don't have any desire to play there again. I also don't make it a habit of burning bridges. I have played music in Louisiana primarily, but I've been on tour a couple of times. I know how bands are treated at clubs around the country. It's very rare that I've decided to turn down gigs based on the venue. Then again, I'm not doing it for a living any more. That said, I'm glad to hear that Steven is taking steps to change the way they do business.

One more side note: I don't know about the volume, but the few times I've played at Coda, the sound guy has done a good job. So thanks.

Kellogg,
Your respect, or lack of, is pretty irrelevant. I'm sure most of my favorite writers have heard similar comments from those who didn't like what was written, and looked for an opening to make it personal instead of sticking to the subject. Samuel Clemons... Dr. Hunter S. Thompson... I can think of so many. They were known for writing small opinion pieces ,as well as books, using pen names.

All that, too, is irrelevant. She made no attempt to hide her identity from anyone. Posting regular updates from her facebook about this blog is pretty straight forward.

Don. If I was actively trying to hide my identity, I could certainly change my source code (I'm smart like that) and/or delete your comments. But, hey, I'm not that kind of girl.

All it would take is a little reverse engineering on Facebook to figure out not only my name, but a ton of other shit about me, as well. Any non-genius could do it.

I'm not the kind of person who gets a huge kick out of having my name and face splashed all over everything. Not my style.

The funny part is that you seem to be trying to bait me. And I'm not really sure why.

Tell me again why I would want/need your respect. Are you that self-important? Or are you just some nice guy who has his panties in a wad over an "anonymous internet chic" who is making snarky comments on the interwebz. If it's the latter, I hope you're in it for the long haul...cause there are about a million of us out here.
